Is It Time To Reconsider That Facelift?

While some may enjoy youthful good looks well into their later years, not all share those fateful good genes. Increasingly, products geared to minimize the signs of facial aging have flooded the marketplace, rewarding many but not all individuals with visible benefits. Non-invasive procedures have also flourished in recent years, offering even more ways to get better results without surgery.

Facelifts, like their competitors, no longer come one-size-fits-all.
Facelifts, however, have long provided the most comprehensive and longest-lasting results for those seeking the greatest reversal of the signs of facial aging. Facelifts, like their competitors, no longer come one-size-fits-all. The procedure has evolved into several localized procedures, allowing you to address specific facial areas alone or to tailor your facelift to a unique set of concerns. Let’s look at some of these options now.

Local lift treatments can treat isolated concerns

Not everyone needs a full facelift. Maybe your neck, jowls, forehead or eyelids concern you most. If you have a single area of concern, a partial facelift may restore a fresh, youthful look without the additional impact, recovery and cost of a more comprehensive procedure.

For example, a neck lift can address the excess fat and skin on the chin and jawline which creates enlarged jowls. The procedure can also excise loose skin throughout the neck area. A neck lift can provide dramatic enhancement to lower facial areas without a full facelift.

Similarly, a brow lift can dramatically enhance the upper facial areas including horizontal forehead creases, vertical frown lines and sagging, overhanging brows. While your doctor may recommend eyelid surgery in conjunction with a brow lift to maximize results, a brow lift can offer satisfying results on its own.

The mini-facelift, when you want more substantial results

The mini-facelift provides an alternative situated between a brow lift, neck lift and full facelift.

You may want to consider this procedure if you feel satisfied with your upper facial area or feel it does not yet require surgery.

It will also satisfy individuals who desire a less-invasive treatment with minimal scarring, less impact from surgery and decreased recovery time.

Relying on a shortened incision around the ear, the mini-facelift can enhance the lower third of the face and the upper neck areas as well.

Despite the short-incision and localized treatment area, a mini-facelift can still give you a substantially rejuvenated look. As a result, this procedure has become an increasingly popular option.

A full facelift offers the greatest and longest-lasting benefits

Many individuals, however, still see the advantages and rewards of a full facelift, despite a longer incision and recovery time. A full facelift addresses the broadest area of concerns, improving the forehead, cheek, jowl and neck areas.

In a facelift procedure, a doctor will excise loose skin, creating improved skin tone; reposition underlying tissues, highlighting facial contours; and, typically, add volume through facial fillers or fat, optimizing overall proportionality of the face.

To get the most complete rejuvenation possible, your physician may also recommend a brow lift or eyelid surgery in conjunction with your facelift since a facelift does not directly improve those areas.

Because a full facelift can address all areas of the face and neck, improve underlying support of the upper dermal layers and balance the appearance of the face as a whole, in most cases, it will give you the best overall, long-term solution to reverse facial aging.

The greater investment in both cost and recovery time will often reward the patient with the best possible final look.

If you desire dramatic rejuvenation, consider a facelift

Not everyone will choose a surgical procedure over other options. Today, the breadth and quality of non-invasive treatments mean that many individuals can and do get the results they want without surgery.

While facelifts cost significantly more time, money and accommodation than other options, they offer a deeper, structural solution to the causes of facial aging which, in turn, last much longer.

It took many years for time and gravity to produce the troubling signs of aging you face today. A properly performed facelift means, in most instances, that you will have many more years before those signs return.

In that sense, facelifts represent a much better investment when you consider the quality and duration of results as well as the lack of additional procedures for years to come.
