Dr. Ahuero, a native of Corpus Christi, Texas, obtained her Bachelor of Arts from Stanford University and her medical degree from the University of Texas Health Science Center at Houston where she was elected to the Alpha Omega Alpha Honor Medical Society. She completed her residency training in Ophthalmology at Harvard Medical School, Massachusetts Eye and Ear Infirmary. She then completed a distinguished Ophthalmic Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery Fellowship offered through the American Society of Ophthalmic Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery (ASOPRS). This highly competitive fellowship is exclusively dedicated to plastic and reconstructive surgery of the eyelids, orbit, lacrimal system (tear drain) and upper face. She has authored numerous peer-reviewed articles and book chapters and serves as a reviewer for Ophthalmic Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery and the Digital Journal of Ophthalmology. Her specific areas of interest are facial rejuvenation, eyelid lifts, eyelid malposition correction, skin cancer reconstruction and treatment of tearing disorders.
