I am a general adult psychiatrist with 35+ years of experience in a variety of settings, now starting a private practice in Mandeville. I plan to continue to deliver high quality care based on evidence-based practices, with referrals and collaboration with other therapists or specialists when appropriate.
I graduated magna cum laude from Rice University and was inducted into Phi Beta Kappa honor society. I received the Lange Medical Publications Award for outstanding achievement as a medical student and earned my M.D. from the University of Texas Medical School at Houston. I was a chief resident during my psychiatric residency training at the University of Cincinnati. I joined Tulane's faculty after residency for a brief time, but left for private practice. I later worked with patients with severe and treatment-resistant mental illnesses at Florida State Hospital and as Director of Adult Services at Southeast Louisiana State Hospital. I then joined Louisiana State University faculty and worked at LSU Bogalusa Medical Center. For the last couple of years I've treated a high volume of patients for the Louisiana Department of Corrections prison system. I plan to finish my career in a small private practice doing office work rather than hospital or institutional work.
